The Motorola Atrix 2 is finally here with the price tag of RM1,599 from IMCC. Despite having a “2? behind the Atrix name, it isn’t really a full fledged replacement.

The Motorola Atrix 2 is finally here with the price tag of RM1,599 from IMCC. Despite having a “2? behind the Atrix name, it isn’t really a full fledged replacement.

First, the screen is increased from 4.0? to 4.3? which is an improvement with non-Pentile display. The screen resolution is still maintained at qHD which pushes a rather high 960×540 pixels. In terms of processor, instead of the 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2 on the original Atrix, the Atrix 2 uses a 1GHz dual-core TI OMAP 4430. This puts it a notch lower than the RM1,999 Motorola RAZR that runs on 1.2GHz dual-core.

At the back, the camera is given an upgrade from 5MP to 8MP which now shoots 1080p HD videos. Unfortunately the battery capacity is reduced from 1,930mAh down to 1,785mAh. The Atrix 2 supports HSPA+ with download speeds up to 21Mbps which is similar to the Samsung Galaxy S II. It is also worth pointing out that the Atrix 2 doesn’t come with a bio-metric fingerprint scanner which was available on the original Atrix.

If you’re interested, head over to IMCC’s Motorola Atrix 2 page.

Malaysia’s most up-to-date smartphone store, IMCC, announced that it has dropped the pricing of the Motorola Atrix from RM1,999 previously to RM1,599 currently, save RM400.
Touted as the world’s more powerful smartphone when it was initially launched in January this year, the Atrix was amongst the first smartphones with a dual-core processor. We’re received an update from Brightstar confirming that the sleek looking Motorola RAZR will be coming to Malaysia, and that’s all we know for now as Brightstar did not say when the device will be launch and how much it will cost.
Looking at how things are panning out, a November launch date is very possible and looking at the trend of smartphone pricing currently, the RAZR shouldn’t cost more than RM2,200 or thereabouts.
So, are you waiting for this?

After the two major Android announcements (three if you’re counting the Galaxy Nexus and Ice Cream Sandwich as two separate announcements) today, we know that there is probably quite a few of you out there who are torn between the sexy hardware of the Motorola RAZR and the beautiful Ice Cream Sandwich that’s on the Galaxy Nexus, and can’t choose between the two.

Perhaps this new piece of information might make choosing between the two much less of a challenge for you.

At the European launch of the RAZR held a day after the event in New York, Alain Mutricy, senior vice president portfolio and product management for Motorola, explained that although the RAZR had been designed for, and will be launching on, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, Motorola is planning to roll out Ice Cream Sandwich update for the device at the “start of 2012?.

Mutricy said the ICS update would carry over all the innovations present in the RAZR. He added that a more precise date would be given in the future. We’re looking forward to this.

We just saw it yesterday on its first appearance, and now we have another leaked pic of what we think is the DROID 3, and this time you can see the keyboard. The keyboard has 5 full rows, making more comfortable to type numbers, and we can also spot an HDMI port just below it.
No details on the internal specs but we’re expecting them to have a dual-core processor in there with Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

The deal maker for us is the tablet specific Android 3.0 Honeycomb OS, you can take a look at all the demo videos here and here. The Android developers have done a great job in making the Android OS work for a tablet and for the looks of the video, its a really good looking OS.

Motorola says the Xoom is fully upgradable to 4G but it’s not something that the user can do at home. TO upgrade the Xoom to 4G the user will need to take it back to service centre, and since 4G in this instance is LTE, don’t expect this feature to be available here.

There’s also a mention of a radical “floating finger” interface, we’re not too sure what this is but we sure can’t wait to get our hands on one.

Motorola Atrix packed into 4-inch device that it puts some full fledged computers to shame.

specificatin:
4-inch 960×540 display
1Ghz NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core processor with 1GB RAM and 16GB of on board storage
MicroSD memory expansion up to 32GB
5MP main AF camera with digital zoom and dual LED flash. Supports 720p video (Motorola says 1080p video recording is possible and is coming with a software upgrade post launch). There’s also a secondary forward-facing VGA camera for video chat
Power button doubles up as biometric thumbprint scanner
Massive 1930mAh battery
Android 2.2 with 2.3 upgrade in the pipeline
Micro USB connecitivity
WiFi b/g/n and Bluetooth2 2.1 with EDR

Motorola even managed to cram in a thumbprint scanner and a huge 1930mAh battery in that svelte 10.95mm thin frame. In comparison, the “world’s thinnest smartphone”, the iPhone 4 is 9.3mm thick.

If that doesn’t blow you away, then the two docking stations along with the developed Webtop for the Atrix will. These docks effectively transform the Atrix into a notebook or a multimedia home entertainment player capable of churning out HD videos and images.

The Weptop app is the key to the Atrix’s tremendous appeal. The app essentially turns the Atrix into a capable PC, with a solid looking interface that’s not unlike the Mac OSX. There’s also a full version of Firefox with Flash 10.1 support, a file manager, and Citrix remote desktop support so users can remote access their PCs while away.

Who needs a netbook nowadays? Imagine working out of the office where you only need to dock the Atrix to its laptop dock, to access everything in your work PC at the office. This here is the key to office independence ladies and gentlemen.

The Motorola Laptop Dock features a 11.6-inch display, two USB ports, a spacious keyboard along with a large trackpad that support two-finger scrolling. There’s also a set of built-in stereo speakers and a three-cell battery that can power the whole assembly for up to eight hours. From the pictures, the laptop dock looks thin and light, and judging by the combination of aluminum and plastic that makes up the dock, we can bet that the built quality is going to be top notch.

The Motorola HD Multimedia Dock features a power connector, three USB ports, and an HDMI port, along with an infrared remote. It turns the Atrix 4G into both a multimedia center or a kind of desktop PC when connected to a display and a keyboard/mouse combo.

The question now is when will the Atrix come to Malaysia? We can see so many uses for it.

Tablet war is begin as Motorola launch a new Motorola Tablet (MOTOPAD) running Android 3.0. Before this, Blackberry just launch PlayBook, and Samsund have Galaxy Tab, and dun forget the ipad from Apple. Earlier on, Andy Rubin had showed off the new Motorola Tablet that runs on honeycomb which promises a whole new Android experience designed for tablet use.
According to Mobile-Review.com, Google is hoping to show off Android 3.0 for the first time with the Motorola MOTOPAD. The MOTOPAD would be the 7-inch tablet that’s also been long-rumored.

Tablet war is begin as Motorola launch a new Motorola Tablet (MOTOPAD) running Android 3.0.

Now more details had surfaced with a screenshot above via a Chinese website (Mobile01) which mentioned its possible specs of having:

7-inch and 10-inch versions
32GB storage
NVIDIA Tegra 2 T20 dual-core processor
Gyroscope
1280×800 resolution
5MP camera on the back, 2MP on the front.
microSD
HDMI out
Versions for UMTS, CDMA and LTE (all bases covered!)

It was revealed that the hardware is pretty lightweight but the Honeycomb OS (Android 3.0) still requires some fine tuning. As usual, no launch or pricing details have been revealed at this point but we’re definitely excited to see how does this go head on with the upcoming iPad 2.

Of major concern is how Motorola will price this.
