Phones: Lenovo- IdeaPad Tablet A1 runs on Android 2.3

Lenovo today announced a new addition to its family of tablets – the IdeaPad Tablet A1. The 7-inch (LED with 1024×600 pixel resolution) IdeaPad A1 runs Android 2.3 and features a magnesium alloy “roll-cage” that is designed to protect critical internal components. The A1 is Lenovo’s third Android tablet to hit the market — the first two being the 10.1-inch IdeaPad K1 and the ThinkPad Tablet, also with a 10.1-inch screen.

Android OS: Ice Cream Sandwich coming to Samsung Galaxy S II and Galaxy Note

Great news for Samsung Galaxy users. Samsung has just announced that it is aiming to roll-out Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for a selected range of its Galaxy devices as early the first quarter of 2012. The update will start rolling out to the Galaxy S II and Galaxy Note devices within the first quarter 2012 while the following devices are slated to get ICS later in the year.

Samsung: Galaxy Y revealed Pre-order now at RM499

Yet another Samsung device appears and it is the Samsung Galaxy Y, an entry level Android smart phone. The pricing is written as RM499 outright with Superbuy offering it for a discounted price of RM475. At the moment, it is only available for pre-order which we believe full availability would be happening in the next couple of weeks. IMCC, a popular online retailer has yet to put up any details of the Galaxy Y.

The HTC Explorer is finally available for sale in Malaysia with a RRP of RM759 which we found it at SuperBuy website (subsidiary and new online retail arm of Lelong.my). If you order online, they are offering it with discount at RM729 which also can be paid with 6 or 12 month installments by credit card.

Phones: HTC announces most affordable Android phone- Explorer

HTC has just announced the HTC Explorer, its latest entry-level Android smartphone. The HTC claims that the Explorer is its most affordable smartphone.
The Explorer packs a 3.2-inch HVGA display with 320 x 480 resolution, a modest 600MHz processor, 512MB of RAM and a 3MP camera. The device runs Android 2.3.5 with the latest HTC Sense 3.5 UI skin on top.

HTC: Revises pricing for Android devices in Malaysia

HTC Malaysia has officially announced its new reduced retail pricing for HTC Wildfire S, HTC Chacha, HTC Salsa and the HTC Sensation.
The HTC Wildfire S which previously retails at RM1,099 is now priced at RM899, which is a RM200 reduction. Meanwhile, the 2 Facebook oriented devices, HTC ChaCha and HTC Salsa are sold at RM799 and RM999 respectively. When announced, the ChaCha was going for RM1,099 and the Salsa at RM1,499.

Phones: Toshiba AT200- new 10.1 inchi Honeycomb Tablet

Toshiba is putting its tablet on a serious diet with its latest AT200 tablet having a thickness of only 7.7mm. That’s 0.9mm thinner than Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (8.6mm) and 0.16mm thinner than the latest Galaxy Tab 7.7 (7.86mm). It is also lighter too at 558g which is just 7g lighter than the Galaxy Tab 10.1.

News: Gmail Mobile Web Updated– Brings A Few New Features

For those of you with iPads or Playbooks, Google has recently spruced up the mobile version of Gmail on the web. The new interface looks a lot more similar to the Honeycomb version of Gmail feature window panes and email previews. HTC has officially announced the HTC ChaCha and HTC Salsa in Malaysia which aims to offer greater Facebook experience. Running on the latest Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread with HTC Sense UI, both Chacha and Salsa also comes with a dedicated Facebook button prominently placed at the front. Asus PadFone has finally been announced at Computex today. Asus PadFone is basically a culmination of two devices, one tablet and one smartphone. This Android First Hybrid 10.1-inch tablet acts as a dock completely hiding the 4.3-inch smartphone within and charging.
